How EVV Clock-In Works
Electronic visit verification (EVV) proves a visit happened: who, where and when. In Hailo, caregivers clock in and out from the Hailo app on their phone, and the app records their location at those two moments.

What you’ll learn
- Know what caregivers do to clock in and out
- Set your geofence and what happens outside it
- Decide how early a caregiver may clock in
Step by step
Caregivers clock in from the app
At the visit, the caregiver opens the shift in the Hailo app and taps Clock in, then Clock out when they leave. Location is recorded only at those two moments.
Set your EVV rules
In Settings › Schedules, choose GPS and mobile app as your EVV method and set the geofence radius around each client's address.
Choose what happens outside the radius
Either let the clock-in through and flag it for review, or require the caregiver to be in range. Clocking out is never blocked; it is flagged instead.
Set early check-ins
Choose how early a caregiver may clock in, and whether clocking in early needs a reason.
Review the timesheet
When the caregiver clocks out, the visit lands in Schedules › Needs attention › Timesheets to approve, with any location issue marked.
